However, the world is evolving at a resounding rate and the NHS is struggling to keep up with modern times. Healthcare as an industry is continuously trying to respond to meet the ever-changing needs of patients and the clinicians who support them.  We have an expanding population who live longer and have increasing healthcare needs.

The new NHS Agreement

Earlier in the year The Department of Health signed an NHS wide agreement for Windows 10 and Defender Advanced Threat Protection. This comes after the WannaCry attack last year affected multiple NHS organisations disrupting appointments and operations across the country.

What does this mean to you?

If you sign up to the agreement, Microsoft will replace your current Windows licensing with the new NHS Digital national agreement. You must migrate all your current Windows estates to Windows 10 Enterprise by 14th January 2020. This is also the date that Windows 7 will no longer be supported and therefore could cause a cyber risk to all the NHS.

The benefit of Windows 10 over Windows 7 is that the traditional deployment of updates is no longer required. You can take this opportunity to review your dated legacy processes and utilise the new features and management that Windows 10 has to offer.

How can OCSL help?

OCSL has been working very closely with Microsoft on the deployment of Windows 10 into our NHS customers and have created a clear methodology to enable you to take full advantage of this. And create a secure Evergreen modern desktop environment to protect against future attacks.

You can develop this knowledge in partnership with OCSL leveraging our experience to guide the process and to show the shortest paths to your desired outcomes. We can also help engage your end user community delivering user enablement and training. Our aim is for you to understand the technology fully. We will help you build a picture of what 'good' looks like for the future of your organisation.
