OCSL-MS backup is designed to protect your hosted data by generating scheduled copies, via a highly secure process. Backups are taken via snapshots and copied directly to tape via SAN, thus taking advantage of the technology employed to reduce both backup windows and restore times.
All data is stored either on a virtual tape library (VTL) or on an enterprise class tape library. Tapes are vaulted once per week to our secure, offsite insurance-rated fireproof storage safes.
Included in the service is:
-
All required hardware such as disk and tape (media is owned by the client).
-
All industry standard enterprise software (such as HP Data Protector).
Integration software can also be provided to cater for online backups of supported databases and applications via BRTOOLS, RMAN, SQL, etc.
-
Your data backed up on a predefined backup schedule – incremental, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by default (grandfather – father – son).
-
Management of both the physical and virtual environments, with support for all leading virtualised server environments.
-
Automated backup and recovery procedures, including software distribution, device configuration, library detection, and more.
-
Unique virtual and synthetic full backups for space reduction.
-
User interface-driven replication management which fully integrates with HP storage and with unique Zero Downtime Backup (ZDB) capabilities and Instant Recovery (IR) functionality.
· Ability to perform ‘instant’ recovery via SAN based snapshot backups.
· Vaulting of tapes once per week to our secure offsite fireproof safes.
· Data over 1TB backed up without LAN requirement.
· Daily web accessible or emailed reports available on status of all backups.
OCSL-MS use HP Data Protector to ensure backup of all data no matter whether it is located within our data centre facilities or remotely on client sites.
Schedules will be agreed with each customer and added to the Data Protector Cell Manager. The Cell Manager controls each and every back job ensuring that the correct enterprise class tape library and tape pools are used for the specific customer.
Backups will take place using multiple drives and where possible data will be transferred across the SAN fabric ensuring a high speed backup service.
The cell manager is constantly monitored to ensure backups are successful. If there is a backup failure it will be investigated and the customer will be informed. Remedial action will be taken to ensure no further failure and time frames permitting, the job will be run again.
